Frangipani Eco-Lodge began with a simple vision: to create a place where people could experience Barbuda as it truly is — wild, quiet, and deeply connected to nature.
Frangipani Barbuda is proudly female-owned by sisters Asha and Afiya, whose connection to this place began long before it became an eco-lodge.
As children, camping here was a cherished family tradition. Almost every Sunday, our parents would pack up for the beach, and we would spend the entire day together. We swam in the crystal-clear waters, caught fish and lobster and explored the shoreline, just a few minutes from home.
Frangipani Barbuda was created not just as somewhere to stay, but as somewhere to reconnect with nature as Barbudans do. Not a resort. Not a rental. But a space rooted in sustainability, simplicity, and our respect for the land.
Frangipani was designed for independent travellers who value authenticity, and a meaningful connection to place.
We believe comfort and sustainability can coexist, so we designed Frangipani to be an easy place to stay while being off-grid. Our solar-powered systems, harvested rainwater and our well-water supply allow guests to experience Barbuda without excess and without putting undue pressure on the environment. This is not a luxury resort, but it has a luxurious feel. It is very comfortable, well looked after, cared for and intentionally remote.
Here, the rhythm is slower. The nights are darker. The stars are brighter.
Both the Guesthouse and the Cabana operate fully on solar power and our energy use is mindful. Water is plentiful but carefully managed. We ask guests to embrace this slower, more conscious way of living because this is the way Barbudans live. We do not force nature into serving people – we built Frangipani with local builders from our community, to exist with the land and not against it. We ask people to embrace nature. In nature sometimes things don’t work.

Once you arrive on Barbuda we will collect you from the ferry, the flight or however else you get here. We will give you a village tour, introducing you to people on the way and will provide you with a local mobile phone full of useful contacts to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.
We highly recommend a rental car as Frangipani is a twenty-minute drive to the nearest local store and we can assist you in organising this.
We recommend that you plan your trip from Antigua over to Barbuda and the return from Barbuda back to Antigua in advance, particularly during high season. Transport between the islands is sometimes limited and bear in mind that the weather may hinder travel to and from Barbuda.
